Kids thrive when given creative outlets outdoors. Send the children out into your yard to gather small pebbles (pea gravel would work too!), salt, flour and water and you are ready to craft an enduring Father’s Day keepsake that he can bring with him to work each day – sure to please both him and you!

How to make this Dad Rocks Paperweight Preheat oven to 250 degrees F. Combine flour, salt and water in a bowl. If the dough is too sticky to work with add small amounts of flour until it becomes doughy and pliable; beware that adding too much will lead to dry out and cracks in your creation!
Shape a piece of dough into a ball in your hands and transfer to your cookie sheet. Flatten the ball out to about 1/2″ thickness.
Carefully choose pieces of pea gravel to spell “DAD ROCKS”, pressing them firmly but gently into your salt dough paperweight. Bake it for 2 – 2.5 hours or until completely dry before allowing to cool before handling or taking it off its cookie sheet.
Optional: Seal your creation with an acrylic sealer or apply a clear coat sealant for added protection.
